"Carving out Time" is a tribute to our collective memories and the cameras used to capture those significant moments. This biodegradable collection was inspired by how we, humans, imprint ourselves in the environments we walk through. Just how we might carve out symbols in trees or on the ground, the imprinted design on these cases acts as a symbol of how important it is that we care for this earth and those living on it while we capture the significant moments. As an artist, I am always looking for ways to better the environment and those in my community, and I think that if we seek to see each other as 'collaborators' rather than 'competitors', there is nothing that we cannot achieve. The inspiration for the case colour names and their unique histories came from The Secret Lives of Colour by Kassia St. Clair.
For every purchase of a “Carving out Time” case, I will be donating $1 toThe Ocean Cleanup; a nonprofit organization founded in 2013 that is developing advanced technologies to rid the oceans of plastic. I chose this organization because my father has been following Boyan Slat’s (the CEO of the organization) journey for a long time now and is always hinting at how much he would love to support. After doing my own research and seeing just how much worse the situation has gotten due to the pandemic and masks being thrown around, which by the way is very frustrating to see anywhere, I only saw it fitting to support The Ocean Cleanup. To see more of the work that they are doing, please followthis link. I do not work for this organization and am doing this independent of. Thank you!
