One of my favourite reads of all time is The Secret Lives of Colour by Kassia St.Clair. This book is a vivid story of culture and history told through the lens of colour. As a film photographer, I am constantly exploring the old times (and the new) through a camera lens, and so this book was an instant inspiration for this collection as it is yet another medium of exploration. With all of that in mind, I only saw it fitting to call the titles of the cases by the exact shade they depict.
While Kassia does not have full length stories about all of the colours in existence, she does present a glossary of other interesting colours in the back of the book, which were helpful in the titles of these pastels. She describes them as such;
Eau de Nil - A pale green thought to resemble the colour of the River Nile.
Shell - Pale Pink.
Lavender - Pale blush purple; usually a tint much paler than the blooms themselves.
When photographed, the pastel colours change depending on incoming natural light. The case colours might look a little different on camera, therefore the photo with the exact Pantone numbers is attached as a reference! I hope this helps. Whilst the pastels do not have stories, I think these colours speak for themselves.
