Tis' the (spooky) season we've all been waiting for! With Squid Game trending and Tik Toks on the rise non stop, we can already guess that Halloween will be a thrilling (and terrifying) this year. To make the season all the more exciting, Time Eliminated will be automatically discounted at checkout. Trick or Treat?
My father smoked cigarettes for more than twenty years and quit right before I was born. To me, that willpower is incredibly inspiring and is a showcase of what an individual will and can do if they set their mind to it.
The name "Time Eliminated" was chosen for a few reasons. One, by smoking you are most likely eliminating some time that you have on God's green earth. Two, if you do succeed to quit this nasty habit, you, in my opinion have eliminated a bad habit and therefore you have changed and thus created an elimination of a time.
Artists love to juxtapose their work- whether it is a painting with contrasting colours or a complete revamp of everything they have ever known, it is a part of an artist's journey.
To juxtapose my past work, I wanted to come out with the 'Time Eliminated' case, and here it is! This case is biodegradable to further contrast the image on the back of it, as smoking cigarettes is obviously bad for you (I do not condone smoking), but the image is a work of art on a case that does good.
There is so much irony in this that I needed to bring to life.
Moreover, I am inspired by the idea of what cigarettes seem to do for people's mental states; the duping and trickery of cigarettes in subconscious impact. Are they really therapeutic? Why are they used to increase people's capability to socialize? Why do individuals smoke knowing that it will harm them? Why are we so harmful to ourselves?
Here are some other quotes about smoking to make you further think:
“Giving up smoking is the easiest thing in the world. I know because I've done it thousands of times.” -Mark Twain
“You wouldn't happen to have a pipe and a bit of tobacco about, would you- i heard that! Gandalf enjoyed a good pipe! Why do you think he's called Gandalf the Gray? it wasn't for the colour of his robes.” - Margaret Weis
“Smoking I find the most ridiculous of all the varieties of human behaviour and practically the only one that is entirely against nature. Can you imagine a cow or any animal taking a mouthful of smouldering straw then breathing in the smoke and blowing it out through its nostrils?” - Ian Fleming
"Pain is the flame that lights the fuel of our enlightenment." - Eckhart Tolle
This phone case is a symbol of willpower. To quit smoking, my father kept a pack of cigarettes in his pocket which encouraged his genuine will. I hope that you keep this case in your back pocket as a symbol of just that.
I understand that there are many websites and ways to get the help necessary (so I will not overwhelm), but if you need resources to help you quit smoking or for mental health support, here are a couple to get you started:
